I like to get to the gym when I can, but let’s face it these days with a 1 year old and a hectic work schedule, it’s harder than ever to fit in gym time. I find a good 10-20 minute home workout can do just the trick to get in a little sweat sesh!
This is a nice 14-15 minute full-body workout that gets in some nice stretching before and after, and works your whole body with some weights.
What I focus on:
Incorporating lots of yoga type stretches in beginning — warming of shoulders, back, core, and quads primarily; bends, twists, and folds
Using 10 pound weights I start with squats right into shoulder presses, 10-12 reps
Keeping the 10 pound weights, head into a plank with a row on each side, push-up and a squat up (option to stand for a full burpee), 5-6 times
Hold a plank for a good couple of breaths
End with scissoring your legs back and forth while weaving a weight in and out 10-12 times, I use a 5 pound here
I repeat at least once more — twice more if I have the time!
Finish with more yoga inspired stretches, child’s pose and more bends, twists and folds to relax your body
This can be just a 8-10 minute workout if you go thru once, takes about 14-15 minutes to go thru twice and 18-20 for three times — either way if you have anywhere between 10-20 minutes you can fit this in at home!
Don’t have weights? Really don’t need them! Can use just your body for all exercises, or even home items like a shampoo bottle (something easy to grab). Hope you enjoy!
