Struggling with some seasonal depression and bursts of colds since the beginning of November, I’ve been focusing a lot on light, gentle workouts to not over do it on my body (or my mind). Here is a simple yoga session that mainly consists of breathing and light stretching - to wake up your mind and body in the morning to be ready for whatever comes your way!

* Take a good 10-15 deep breaths in sitting meditation
* Clasp your hands out in front of you, round your back to feel the stretch - reverse the clasp; hold for about 8 breaths each
* Reach behind you and clasp hands - or grab opposite elbows, tilt head back feeling the opening in your chest and throat
* Hold there or if craving more opening in your hips, place hands behind you, rock onto your knees and slowly drop your head to feel more of a deeper front body opener
* Spinal twist each direction - hold 5-8 breaths
* Grab each elbow over head for a nice stretch of the back of your arms - hold about 5 breaths
* Gentle neck stretch on each side - hold about 5 breaths
* Fold forward - hold 5 - 8 breaths
* Lay on your back and give your knees a nice hug
* Placing your arms on the ground, spinal twist to the right (head to the left if able to) - hold 5-8 breaths and switch sides
* Gentle bridge - rock and roll on your shoulders if looking for a deeper stretch - hold about 5 breaths
* Reclined butterfly placing your feet together and letting your knees open wide - good hip opener - hold 5-8 breaths
* Raise your legs to the sky and hold candlestick pose for a couple breathes - bicycling them out a little on your way down
* On your hands and knees, take a couple cat cows
* Thread the needle on each side - staying on your knees, raise your right arm up and slide under your left shoulder feeling the shoulder opener - hold about 5 breaths and switch sides
* End in childs pose - arms can be forward or laying beside out - hold for another 10-15 breaths
Namaste!
