Jan Recipe of the Month - Grape Jelly Meatballs

January 7, 2020 Kelly Wanamaker
grape jelly meatball thumb.JPG

For January, I wanted to highlight an all-time favorite of mine that we just had over the holidays, and it’s SUPER easy to make! Disclaimer: I know it’s not the most healthiest, BUT, for how easy it is to make and the fact that they are delicious, I feel it’s a good little snack to treat yourself with.

The recipe only contains a handful of ingredients, but you can alter or use some replacements based on your diet.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE A LOT:

  • 2 bottles chili sauce (Heinz 12 ounce I use)

  • 1 jar grape jelly (32 ounce) - here’s where you can pick sugar free, organic, homemade, etc.

  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

  • 3 bags of frozen meatballs (5 lb bags) - another option to make your own (meatball recipe WILL come), get turkey meatballs, organic, etc.

    • These are the fast ingredients - making your own meatballs or chili sauce/grape jelly will take more time

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

  • Combine chili sauce, jelly and pepper in a medium saucepan and heat until nice and warm

  • Dump meatballs in a crockpot (or Instant Pot) and pour warmed up sauce over - if slow cooking, cook on low for 3-4 hours. If using mega speed of Instant Pot it will not have to be that long - HOWEVER, there is something about letting them simmer for a good couple of hours that really gets the sauce soaked in the meatballs

Great for appetizers, a snack, or part of your main dish. Hope you enjoy :)
