OK…shameless plug to brag about my own cat as my first Pet of the Month :) But I honestly can’t express how much this cat means to me…here’s his backstory if you’re interested:
It was summer 2011 when I had gone away for vacation with my parents. At the time, my boyfriend was living with me. When I returned home, there was this cat….he went and bought a cat. I had my rescue dog from school at this time, but apparently he felt as though he needed another pet too. My first reaction: I don’t want this cat. We didn’t have the best first couple months. The cat seemed kind of mean, not a real lover, and didn’t spark much of my interest.
Unfortunately, about a year later my boyfriend and I broke up, so of course the question of “what do we do with the cat?” came up. Oddly enough, Loki and my dog had grown a super strong bond — the cat couldn’t be away from the dog. Hence….I got the cat. It was probably the best choice I could have made. Once we moved to our own place together, us 3, it all clicked. Loki became a super lovebug, and grew closer and closer to my dog every day (which was the cutest!). He is more like a puppy these days the anything else — he’ll fetch, go hangout outside, and sometimes sounds like he is trying to woof rather than meow.
Loki came from one of our local humane societies in Michigan, they were having a sale on kittens. There are so many wonderful cats at shelters., and I wouldn’t have Loki without the love and support they provided for him.
Overall - adopt don’t shop, even for cats. And lets show some love for my big, beautiful, cat-dog: Loki :)
