This is one of my most & least favorite ab finishers — most because they get your core on fire, and least because even though it only takes a couple of minutes to do IT IS HARD. I never want to do these, but then I remind myself that it’s quick and it’s a super effective exercise.
What I do: Start with about 30 seconds of hollow rock holds - if you can do longer, you rock (get it!). Then In your boat pose or V, row it out a few times nice and slow — or go for a couple good V ups. Go back and forth a few times and you’ll definitely start to feel the burn all over.
How to exactly do hollow rock holds:
Again, no personal trainer here but have learned a lot a long my fitness journey, and i’d first say listen to where your body is right now — don’t try to do what you think looks right, but work your way up
Start laying on your back, arms extended overhead and legs extended out in front of you
At the same time in a control motion, lift your arms up, shoulders off the floor, head up, and legs up
You’re not going into a V for this one, so the closer you get your legs & arms to the ground the harder it is
Don’t compromise your neck! You want to feel like you are making somewhat of a bowl or U type of shape
When you get to the boat rows or V-ups, that’s when you are working into that V-shape and straight back
Hope these help end that workout with a bang - would love to hear what other go-to ab finishers you guys have out there!
